Space 4 Art

Space 4 Art is a San Diego nonprofit that operates an artist-built creative center in East Village, offering affordable live/work studio space at roughly half the local market rate, along with paid arts education workshops and free community events. The organization has spent years working toward a permanent home on land purchased in Sherman Heights. In 2023, Civic Community Partners made a $500,000 loan to refinance existing debt while Space 4 Art continued negotiating with a potential developer to build that permanent facility, which would include affordable housing on the currently vacant lot.
